September Prayer Guide 2014

Dear Watchmen,

As you may well know, being a watchman over your nation is a life time assignment. You keep pushing until the will and purpose of God is achieved.

Recently God asked me a question in response to some one?s complaint that the prayers are getting so much. The question came in my dialect but the English translation is this: CAN THE BLIND SEE?? I got the message immediately.

Anyone whose eyes are open in the Spirit cannot fail to realize that we are even yet to pray enough for Nigeria especially in this season. The daily unfolding events in the nation go to confirm this.

Highlights to the 33rd IFN National Prayer Conference click here.

As I send this Prayer Guide for the month of September, it is with a special prayer ? that God will open your eyes like that of Elisha?s Servant so that you will be provoked to pray with greater passion and understanding, knowing that God has assured that there is HOPE FOR NIGERIA.

This Prayer Guide will last for all of September.

As usual the FIRST and the LAST day Fast/Prayers will be observed by all WATCHMEN in the Houses of Prayer. Thereafter every Intercessor must choose at LEAST one or two other days to observe the fast/prayers every week.

Where possible central places of Prayers should be arranged where Intercessors on prayer duty on any given day can come together and observe the prayers.

Let the Prayer points serve as mere outlines. Intercessors should be at liberty to enlarge the prayer points as the Spirit of the Lord may lead. Leaders should remember to take off time to study the referenced scriptures well ahead of the prayer times.

I encourage you to PRINT OUT these prayer points and circulate them widely amongst praying and concerned WATCHMEN/CHURCHES.

May the Lord richly bless all who made contributions to this Prayer Guide and continue to depend on them. NIGERIA IS IN GOD?S HAND!!!

PRAYER GUIDE FOR THE

31 DAYS OF PROPHETIC NIGHT WATCHES

1ST SEPT. ? 31ST SEPT. 2014 (12MIDNIGHT ? 3AM)

DAY 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

CALL TO BE STRONG IN THE LORD

? Take this song to commence today?s prayers.

? Give me oil in my lamp

? Keep me burning

? Give me oil in my lamp, I pray

? Give me oil in my lamp

? Keep me burning

? Keep me burning

? Till the bridegroom comes

The complexities of the times we live in call for being strong for God. God is in dire need of strong people that can be depended upon in these last days.

Notice that most nations, institutions and organizations are systematically and spiritually making themselves strong for different purposes including taking a stand for the devil and midwifing the regime of rebellion against God and His purposes. This is where this Paul?s concluding admonition to the Ephesian church and by extension to us today finds its relevance.

? Proclaim EPH. 6:10-24 and 1 PETER 2:1-2

Ask God for forgiveness on account of weaknesses, compromises, malice, excuses, spiritual laziness, laxity, sluggishness, deceit, loss of appetite for the word of God, prayerlessness, envy, walking in the flesh, frivolities, hypocrisy, slander, flippancy, indiscipline, anxiety etc

? MAL. 3:3

Invite God to take His place over your life as a Refiner and Purifier of Silver; Ask Him to scrub you as gold and silver until you are fit for God, fit to offer sacrifices in righteousness.

? PSALM 114:1-2

From this passage, ask God to make you into two things:

1. His sanctuary ? a holy habitation for God

2. His dominion ? a place of His holy rule

Pray that your life will become characterized by decency, orderliness and complete obedience.

? EPH. 6:10

Repeat this as proclamation 7 times

Ask God for the grace to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Ask Him to make you strong spiritually, strong in the word, strong in character, strong financially, strong in integrity, strong in serving others, strong in truth, strong in prayer, strong in love, strong by day, strong by night etc.

? Read ISA. 54:5

Ask God to open your eyes to discern Him as your Husband and not only as your maker. Pray that you will be married to Him as a living personality, be married to His word and be married to His ways.

The West minister larger Catechism written as far back as 1646 states as follows: ?Man?s chief and highest end is to glorify God and to fully enjoy Him forever?

The strongest of God?s men are people who do everything based on the fact that they love God and want to know Him and offer up their live for God. David is a very good biblical example.

? Pray that God will lead you personally into the secret of enjoying Him and making Him your life?s greatest pleasure. Love makes strong.

? JOHN 21:15-17

Notice that it is the love for God in a man that is the foundation of strength. Here Jesus asked Peter three times (for Emphasis) ?Do you love me more than these things?? Pray therefore and ask God to make you love Him in reality more than every other thing else.

? EPH. 3:17-19

To know God is to LOVE Him. Pray that God will lead you to become rooted and grounded in His love; that you will find God irresistible and incredibly lovable.

? Pray that God will grant you the revelation and knowledge of the love of God that passes knowledge so you can live in the fullness of His?s strength and power.

? Read EPH. 6: 13-17

Ask God to cloth you with the whole armour of God. Mention them one by one and appropriate them in your life ? the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, shoe of the preparation of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the sword of the spirit.

? JOHN 10:27

Pray that God will revive your ability to hear Him and be willing to walk in His counsel in every area of your life and work. This helps to build strength.

? Pray that God will develop in you the skill and capacity to interpret your environment from the word of God and from credible prophecies.

? 2 COR. 9:8

Ask God to make your office and the seat you occupy in your office as an extension of His throne. Ask for grace to use your position anywhere to set boundaries and limits for policies and actions that oppose God and His purposes.

? PROV. 21:16

Ask God to provoke your desire for knowledge; for the grace to read widely and to interact creatively.

? Bring your personal and family needs to God.

? Give Him thanks for answered prayers and close with break of break

DAY 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

PRAYER FOR THE PRESIDENT

Recently, I got to know that the British National Anthem is called ?God Save the Queen?. But if there was a king on the throne of Britain, then it would be called ?God Save the King?. I think as Nigerians, we have a lesson to learn in this regard.

The British speak so well of their leaders, regard them highly and pray for them. This may partly explain why these leaders live long. The Queen that came here to lower the Union Jack and raise the Nigerian green-white-green flag in 1960 is still Queen till date.

? 1 TIM 2:1-4 – Let us acknowledge and confess to God as Nigerians and especially as the Church that we have demeaned and disrespected the exalted office of the President with our mindless and biased criticisms most of the time. Remember that whoever is in a position of Authority deserves our prayers and respect.

? REV. 12:10 – Let us acknowledge most sincerely before God that rather than engage in intercessions for him as the bible recommends, we have majored in accusations, which is actually the work of Satan. The bible calls the devil ?the accuser of the brethren? and he accuses them day and night.

? Pray that GOD will anoint the hearts of Nigerians and the church in particular with LOVE and patriotism for our country and her leadership as is obtainable in other nations.

? 1 THESS 5:18 – Pray that God will give Nigerians an attitude of gratitude for the gift that God in His wisdom gave us in the person of our present President.

? Let us thank God for the prophetic destiny of Mr. President. Let us thank God for the history of His life and the divine orchestration that brought him into this highest position in the land.

? Thank God who in His infinite wisdom chose him to lay a new foundation for Nigeria?s next 100 years.

? Let us thank God for sustaining him in office these many years despite some of the unfair criticisms, vilification and abuse.

? Let us thank God for His mercies upon Mr. President. Thank God for the achievements his administration has recorded in various areas ? Aviation, transportation, unity of the nation, infrastructure, National confab, his visit to Israel, employment generation and foreign investment generation, etc.

? Let us also thank God for his humble attitude and disposition towards political opponents and indeed all Nigerians.

? Pray for God to forgive him, his household and cabinet of sins and compromises. Request God to look upon him in mercy and let atonement be made over him by the premium of the blood of Jesus Christ.

? 1 KINGS 3:8-9

Beseech God to give Mr. President a wise and understanding heart to lead this great nation, so that Nigeria will fulfil her destiny in God.

? Pray for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Ask God to strengthen him with might in his inner man and grant him courage to continue to lead Nigeria.

? PROV. 25:5 ? Plead with God to continue to deliver the President from the counsel of ?strange children? and evil persons that may find themselves around him.

? DEUT. 33:25 ? Pray for the security and health of the President. Wage battle in the spirit against the barrage of invocations, sorcery, enchantment and evil spells projected against his life by whatever means. Declare them null and void. Let God give him sandals of iron and brass. Decree that the force of his strength shall not abate.

? Ask God to surround his throne with God fearing and righteous men so he will fulfil God?s agenda for his leadership in Nigeria.

? Read PSALM 144:10 ? Ask the Lord to save Mr. President from all the hurtful sword of adversaries and to turn his heart to love and trust totally on the Lord his God.

? PSALM 118:17 ? Declare that President Jonathan shall not die but live to declare and fulfil the works of the Lord to Nigeria and his generation.

? PSALM 91:16 ? Proclaim with lifted up voices and say ?Long live President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan?. Do it 70 times.

DAY 3, 10, 17, 24

PRAYER FOR OUR ARMED FORCES

? Sing this song to commence the day?s prayers:

Jehovah is your name

Jehovah is your name

Mighty warrior, Great in Battle

Jehovah is your name.

? Proclaim 1 CHRON. 11:10-25

The armed forces constitute a vital element in the overall national security strategy. The military alongside other security agencies are responsible for ensuring that the territorial integrity of the nation and indeed internal security of the nation is assured.

? Pray and acknowledge God as the LORD OF HOSTS and the Commander of all the Armies of Nigeria and the whole earth.

? Give Him thanks for the help He has given the armed forces and for their efforts in trying to maintain peace and security in our Nation.

? Let us bring identificational repentance on behalf of the armed forces for corruption, idolatry, witchcraft, immorality, sabotage that have plagued her in recent times.

? 1 CHRON. 12:17

Ask God to expose and judge the evil seeds among the armed forces who have become collaborators with the enemies of the Nigerian Nation.

? Raise a lamentation and cry out for mercy over some of the avoidable tragedies that came upon Nigeria and Nigerians which would have been averted had the armed forces been united as expected in the defence of the Nation.

? Plead the blood of Jesus Christ to make atonement over the blood of innocent victims of terror attacks all over the nation, especially the North-East.

? Ask God to comfort all the families of departed members of the armed forces who died while defending this nation. Pray God to come to their aid, favour and sustain them.

? 1 CHRON. 12:38, 18

Ask God to pour the spirit of patriotism, loyalty and sacrifice upon our armed forces and help them to stand strong, bold and united in defence of Nigeria. Pray that they discharge their duties without religious and ethnic sentiments.

? 1 CHRON. 11:12-14

Ask God to give our armed forces decisive victory over the Boko Haram terror group and other terrorists attacking the nation and her citizens.

Recently, the leader of the extremist group released a video in which he declared as follows: ?Thanks be Allah who gave victory to our brethren in Gwoza and made it part of the Islamic Caliphate?.

? Pray that God will grant the armed forces the intelligence, might and strategy to recover every inch of the Nigerian territory that the terrorists are presently claiming to have taken over. Prophesy that no parallel government shall stand in Gwoza (a town in Borno state of Northern Nigeria) or in any part of Nigeria whatsoever. Declare that they failed before they even started.

? PSALM 46:1

Invite God to be the strength, the rock and a very present help of the Nigeria?s Armed forces including the Army, Police, Air force, Navy, etc.

? DEUT 33:26-27 ? Pray that God will ride the heavens to help the Service chiefs with the requisite wisdom to employ our nation?s endowment to crush any rising parallel government in the land, so that nothing compromises the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the nation Nigeria.

? 1 CHRON. 11:18-19

Pray that God will raise men from the military in the class of the mighty men of David, who will be willing to put their lives in jeopardy for the sake of this nation.

DAY 4, 11, 18, 25

PRAYER FOR NIGERIA I

(Sing it many times as the spirit leads)

? Proclaim PSALM 46:1-END

Repeat this proclamation

? PSALM 107:15

Give praise to the Almighty God who has kept Nigeria united despite the unspeakable evils and several onslaughts from hell to trouble and even dismember her.

? PSALM 46:1

Thank God for always being Nigeria?s Refuge and Strength. He has always been ready to help us in times of trouble.

? Inspite of the fact that Nigeria is not yet Ebola Free, let us thank God for the degree of containment that has been achieved so far in the nation. Even the United Nations has praised Nigeria?s exemplary management of the plague.

? Thank God that for once Nigerians could set politics and religion aside to work in unison to deal with the National threat posed by the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

? The Nigeria National Conference which started March 7, 2014 ended peacefully on the 21 August, 2014. It was initially scheduled to last for 3months but it ended up taking 5months.

Let us thank God for the peaceful conclusion of the Conference which is a clear indication that God loves this Nation and wills that we remain united despite our differences. Give God all the praise, celebrate His greatness and declare that there is hope for Nigeria.

? PSALM 46:2

Repeat this verse 7 times

Dealing with fear in the heart is the first principle in divine protection. Resist and destroy the covering of fear that seeks to cover the entire nation because of Boko Haram and especially the Ebola plague. Declare that Nigeria shall survive these troubles and come out stronger.

? Fear is the doorway for all forms of Satanic incursions. The enemy uses it to penetrate lives and vandalize destinies. Pray and renounce the spirit of fear and chase it out of the hearts of both government and the populace.

? Fear uses what can be seen to destroy what cannot be seen. Yet the things that are unseen are eternal not temporal. Therefore come against the captivity of the spirit of fear, paralyze it over the nation. Declare that it will no longer hold Nigerians hostage.

? HEB. 2:14-15

Fear is the opposite of faith. It does not allow the people to believe God but brings them into bondage. Therefore pray that the wind of God will take away the fear of death from the atmosphere of Nigeria.

? Prophesy a Release upon Nigeria and Nigerians from the power and control of the fear of death.

? HEB. 2:14-15

? EXODUS 30:18-21

If the devil has a way of transmitting disease, God also has His way of transmitting Immunity.

DAY 7, 14, 21, 28

PRAYERS FOR THE JEWISH STATE OF ISRAEL

It is hard for those of us who live in peace and safety to understand what it is like to live day after day with the realization that at any moment, you could be murdered simply because you are Jewish.

The pain and suffering of the Jewish people during the more than 50 days of terrorist attacks can only be imagined. There were 100 rockets per day for nearly 2 months. The new danger looming now is on Israel?s Northern border. The most radical Muslim terrorists in the world are now literally on Israel?s door step.

God is calling the church in the nations to stand with and for the nation of Israel and the Jewish people as never before. They stand in need of help, support, encouragement and prayers right now.

? Proclaim JER. 33:1-26

? Thank God for fighting on the side of Israel, giving them upper hand in the conflict.

? Give God praise though there were barrages of rockets from Gaza that sailed into Israel, it only did little damage.

? Thank God that the Hamas threat against Ben-Gurion International Airport failed to materialize.

? The present needs in Israel are so great. So many people suffered during the recent war.

The Jewish people need to know they are not alone. Pray that God will motivate the church worldwide to send aid to Israel to support those who are hurting and displaced.

? Let us plead with God that this time the ceasefire will stick and be broken as in the past by Hamas.

? JER. 33:3

Pray for the thousands of Israelis living near Gaza that fled their homes when the Gazan militants stepped up mortar fire on Southern Israel. Ask God to send them mighty help and resettle them.

With a ceasefire in the Gaza conflict the armed forces need to be careful not to drop their guard. There have been some incidents in the North and firing over the borders with Lebanon and Syria. On the Syrian border a group of UN peacekeeping troops have been captured by one of the warring groups in Syria.

? Keep them alert, especially in the North and on the border with Gaza.

? ISAIAH 40:31

Give them rest from the battle and renew their strength. They shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Bring Your comfort to all who have lost family or friends in the war.

APPENDIX 1

O GOD, OUR HELP IN AGES PAST (SSS 513)

1. O God, our help in ages past,

Our hope for years to come,

Our shelter from the stormy blast,

And our eternal home.

2. Under the shadow of thy throne,

Still may we dwell secure;

Sufficient is thine arm alone,

And our defense is sure.

3. Before the hills in order stood,

Or earth received her frame,

From everlasting, thou art God,

To endless years the same.

4. A thousand ages, in thy sight,

Are like an evening gone;

Short as the watch that ends the night,

Before the rising sun.

5. Time, like an ever rolling stream,

Bears all who breathe away;

They fly forgotten, as a dream

Dies at the opening day.

6. O God, our help in ages past,

Our hope for years to come;

Be thou our guide while life shall last,

And our eternal home.

APPENDIX II

I COULD NOT DO WITHOUT THEE (SSS 844)

I could not do without Thee

O Savior of the lost,

Whose precious blood redeemed me

At such tremendous cost.

Thy righteousness, Thy pardon

Thy precious blood, must be

My only hope and comfort,

My glory and my plea.

I could not do without Thee,

I cannot stand alone,

I have no strength or goodness,

No wisdom of my own;

But Thou, belov?d Savior,

Art all in all to me,

And weakness will be power

If leaning hard on Thee.

I could not do without Thee,

For years are fleeting fast,

And soon in solemn oneness

The river must be passed;

But Thou wilt never leave me,

And though the waves roll high,

I know Thou wilt be near me,

And whisper, “It is I.”
