Power of the New Priesthood

The program, which took place from 14th ? 16th October 2015 at Grace Point Hotel, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja ? Nigeria, was themed ?POWER OF THE NEW PRIESTHOOD? featuring the Chairman of Intercessors for Nigeria, Barrister Emeka Nwankpa.

Notable scriptures from the event are Exodus 28: 1-43, Hebrews 5, Ephesians 4:23-24, Colossians 3:10-14, Exodus 19:5-6, 1 Peter 2:5-9, Revelation 5:9-10, 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, Daniel 1:8, Daniel 6:3-4, Daniel 9:1-3

Priesthood is the power and authority of God given to man, including the authority to fulfill God?s eternal plan of redemption on earth.

It was said that in transitioning from the old to the new Priesthood we must put to death the old man of corruption, fornication, uncleanness, evil desires, covetousness which is idolatry, anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language, lies and such alike. As we put off these things that limit the Power of our new priesthood, we must then put on the following:

  • the armor of Light Rom 13:12
  • the Lord Jesus Christ Himself Rom 13:14
  • the new man which is created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:23

We also have to put on the image of God, which includes:

  • tender mercies,
  • kindness,
  • humility,
  • meekness,
  • longsuffering
  • and above all put on Love. Colossians 3:10

Even as Priests, it was said that Christians are also called to be Kings. Speaking on the Kingly aspect of the new Priesthood, it is seen in Revelations 5:10 that we have been redeemed to God by Jesus Christ and ordained as Kings and Priests to reign and minister to God on Earth.

The Speaker, Barr Emeka Nwankpa encouraged everyone to get into the habit of really praying the scriptures and inserting your name into verses where appropriate. Doing such makes God to change your life completely, renewing your mind and makes you grow all-round. Examples of such scriptures to pray are, Colossians 1:9-11, Philippians 1:9-11, Ephesians 1:17-23, 3:14-21, 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24. He also emphasized the need for believers to have a disposition of gratitude to God.

In examining the life of Daniel, we see some characteristics found in him of a true priest and a king. He operated in Kingdom Consecration, practiced Kingdom Righteousness, exhibited Kingdom level Faith and possessed Kingdom Authority. In addition, he was a man of understanding who studied and knew God?s word. To achieve all these involves devoting ourselves, solely to God by being holy, making deliberate decisions to abstain from things that oppose the works of God?s power in our lives.

In Conclusion, God has given us the opportunity to move forward, to excel from where we have been to where He wants us to be. We therefore should not remain stagnant nor move backward rather we should plunge forward and ask God to use us for whatever He pleases. Amen!
