Fallouts from the 42nd INTERCESSORS FOR NIGERIA National Prayer Conference in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State (2 – 5 January 2019)
PREAMBLE
We have reached a point in God’s programme for Nigeria where He wants us to take our eyes off the fixation on election to election cycles.
As important as elections are to every nation, we cannot afford to allow everything to be hung and to revolve around elections.
This election cycle syndrome and the way we go about it generates fear and there is no how we can develop or progress as a nation, if we continue like this.
Going forward, God would have us to focus more on His bigger plan for the country. This is where this communication finds its relevance because there is presently, a new and distinct programme that God is rolling out for Nigeria which can be seen in the light of JOB 34:21-30.
My earnest desire and intense prayer is for you to become not just part of it but the actual vehicles and instruments of accomplishing it.
BRIEF REVIEW OF JOB 34:21-30
God’s eyes are on all the ways of mortals. He sees everything they do whether good or bad. None of their tricks and plots escapes His notice. Vs. 21
No darkness is thick enough to hide the wicked from His eyes. Vs. 22
We don’t set the time to come before God in judgment. God determines it all. Vs 23
God breaks in pieces the so called mighty men without asking anyone and sets up others in their place. Vs. 24
Because God takes note of all their wicked deeds, He overthrows them in the night and they are crushed. No man gets by with any act of wickedness or injustice. Vs. 25
God strikes down the wicked for their wickedness. He does it in the open where everyone can see it. Vs. 26
Wicked men turn away from following God and show no respect for any of His ways. Vs. 27
The wicked causes the cry of the poor to come before God and to get God’s attention. God hears the cries of the needy and the afflicted. Vs. 28
When God gives quietness, there is no one that can make trouble. When He turns away His face, there is nothing anyone can do about it, whether an individual or a nation.
Vs. 29
God will not permit those who hate Him to take over and reign so that they will not ruin the life of the people. Vs. 30
BREAKING MIGHTY MEN IN PIECES
Notice that the matter of breaking evil mighty in men in pieces is not something out of this world. It is something God has done before and the time for it has arrived for Nigeria.
Examples:
Pharaoh of Egypt
When Moses was sent to Egypt, He went with a rod. With that rod everything in Egypt including Pharaoh, his kingdom, army, magicians, chariots, throne, horses and the economy were broken into pieces.
Sisera the Army General
God used natural forces like the stars in their courses, the prophetic prayers of Deborah as well as the tent peg and hammer of Jael to break this mighty man in pieces.
Belshazzar the King
God gate-crashed into Belshazzar’s great feast because of the irreverent use of Gods holy vessels and began to write on the Wall. He was slain that same night after Daniel interpreted the handwriting on the Wall.
Herod the King
God used an angel of the Lord to strike down Herod the king because he will not give God His glory. It can be said that he was also broken in pieces by God. Remember how he harassed the church, killed James and arrested Peter.
The City of Babylon
God constituted Jeremiah as a battle axe and weapon of war. The words God gave him to speak as well as the prophetic action Seraiah was delegated to do, all worked to break Babylon in pieces.
OUR OWN PART
JEREMIAH 51:20-23
20 “You are My battle-ax and weapons of war:
For with you I will break the nation in pieces;
With you I will destroy kingdoms;
21 With you I will break in pieces the horse and its rider;
With you I will break in pieces the chariot and its rider;
22 With you also I will break in pieces man and woman;
With you I will break in pieces old and young;
With you I will break in pieces the young man and the maiden;
23 With you also I will break in pieces the shepherd and his flock;
With you I will break in pieces the farmer and his yoke of oxen;
And with you I will break in pieces governors and rulers.
NKJV
Our part in this new Project of God can be seen from the above scripture.
i. We are now to deliberately relate and cooperate with God so that He transforms us into weapons and instruments of breaking in pieces strongholds and wicked mighty men.
ii. As we put ourselves at God’s disposal, the words He will give us will be enough, when necessary to break in pieces evil kingdoms and kings. Notice that both Moses and Jeremiah got words from the mouth of the Lord, and spoke such words to break the enemies of God in pieces.
iii. Waiting on the Lord to hear from Him should now become a culture and a way of life. This will involve holding back all natural impulses to allow God come through to strengthen us with His words. PSALM 27:14 / PSALM 130:5 / JOHN 10:27
iv. We need to become spiritually sensitive to discern what God wants said and done per time.
BECOMING A NEW MANNER OF WATCHMEN
2 PETER 3:11-18 / MATT. 5:44 / EXODUS 23:4-5 / PROV. 25:21-22
To serve as God’s battle axes and weapons of war demands that we become new manner of watchmen whose lifestyle the devil cannot fault or accuse in the realm of the spirit. This is the only guarantee that our voices will carry spiritual authority when we pray or issue commands.
The following practical hints are therefore very imperative:
i. Obey the laws of the land. Do everything you are supposed to do as a citizen.
ii. Pay your due taxes and do not get away with any form of falsehood.
iii. Get to work on time as much as it lies with you.
iv. Regularize and update your vehicle papers and stop giving bribes to any person.
v. Live, pray and walk in the daily expectations of what God will do in the nation.
vi. Always strive to live peacefully and blamelessly.
vii. Focus your effort and energy on getting to know Jesus more and more. Seek always to be connected to heaven.
viii. Learn not to make or retain enemies. Let enemies be only those who decide to be your enemies.
ix. Love your enemies. Give your enemies bread to eat. Give them water to drink. Pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, so that God will bless and reward you.
x. Allow God to work in you so that you will be willing to accomplish all His pleasure.
