PRAYING FOR NIGERIA IN THE SEASON OF TRANSITION – 1
PSALM 136
Thank and Praise God for the successful and peaceful transfer of power on 29th May?15 which was attended by about 40 Foreign leaders of nations and all living former Nigerian leaders.
Ask the Holy Spirit to give us good understanding of the season and the implication of the times and to teach us to apply ourselves well.
In laying a proper foundation for this new administration, let us repent for the sins of the outgoing and incoming Leadership proclaiming ? DAN. 9:5-11
Ask for mercy against blood guiltiness in all manners that the new government exploited or took advantage of terror and insecurity to win the election. PSALM 51: 14
Identify and denounce all the known acts of unrighteousness and wickedness in the land, such as:
???? Boko Haram Islamist terrorism:? PSALM 68:30
???? Insurgency against the Nigerian Nation.
???? Acts of genocide, particularly, in the North East and Middle-Belt regions;
???? Suicide bombings and unprovoked killings in the FCT, Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Plateau States.
???? Unresolved ethnic and communal clashes in Nasarawa, Plateau, Benue, Taraba, etc.
???? Ethnic cleansing and genocidal attacks in North East Nigeria, Plateau Kaduna,
Nasarawa, Benue, Taraba, Borno, Adamawa, Yobe and other states.
Ask for boldness and political will for the new leadership in identifying/prosecuting suspects and dealing with culprits and sponsors of the above evil deeds and other acts of wickedness and unrighteousness against the nation, people and her citizens.
Pray that the arm of the Lord will strongly rest on new president of Nigeria to squarely address the decades of religious and ethnic division that have blighted the nation.
The highest point in the inaugural address of President Muhammadu Buhari was when he said ? ?I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody? pray for Mr. President that God will give him the strength of character to overcome pressures that will seek to make him renege on this assertion.
Pray that, notwithstanding the circumstances of its emergence, that the new government be established in Justice and Righteousness in this new dispensation. PSALM 24:1-2; 97:2
Proclaiming – PSALM 72, pray for all political appointees who have been sworn-in, for divine wisdom and guidance to provide good, purposeful and exemplary leadership; and
Pray that the policies and actions of the new government shall herald the season of social security and sustainable economic prosperity for the nation.
Pray that the new government will have zero tolerance for acts of godlessness, corruption and wickedness in government and society. 1 SAM. 2:12-16
Pray for the healing of the economy. Plunging oil prices have caused a cash crunch, weakening the Naira currency and forcing state projects to be shelved. Ask God in His mercy to reveal the way out to the new government. GEN. 47:6
Plead with God to use this new government to break the cabal controlling the importation of fuel, diesel, rechargeable lamps and other imports that benefit importers to the detriment of the Nigerian populace. Romans13:3-4
Pray for the protection and preservation of the people and the purpose of God. PSALM 16. Declare that no evil agenda and plot against the Church will prosper in the new dispensation. PSALM 83:5-8
Break bread and take Personal/Family prayers and give God praise for answered prayers.
