PRAYING FOR NIGERIA IN THE SEASON OF TRANSITION – 2
Proclaim 1 SAM. 12:1-25
1 SAM. 12:1-5
Samuel was a leader and a shepherd who served Israel with integrity and humility. The Israelites were blessed to have such a great leader.
Pray that God will help us raise leaders like Samuel in Nigeria and the church in this new dispensation. Make a demand that only noble and knowledgeable people will make it into Mr President’s cabinet.
1 SAM. 12:1-5
Samuel asked the people to bring charges against him if they had any. He told them to examine his financial accounts and other records during his tenure. He did not oppress steal or cheat anybody. Still he was ready to make it right if he had done anything wrong.
Pray that this new administration will have leaders who will have a clear conscience before God and the people by conducting themselves with integrity and humility. Let public officers be transparent and accountable.
1 SAM. 12:23-25
Notice that Samuel never retired or went on break from praying for the people of Israel; even when he stepped down from his position.
Pray that God will help us not to sin against Him by refusing to pray for Nigeria. Receive strength to continue to bear the ark on our shoulders.

Pray that knowledgeable men and women will arise from among the church to teach the people the good and right ways of God. This may be done through writing newspaper articles, speaking and modelling what we teach. Ask God for grace to function as teaching Priests.
1 SAM. 9:6
Beseech God to help us become honourable men in the church, at home and in the workplace; men and women whose words are reliable and true.
1 KINGS 18:7-16
Pray that God will raise ?Obadiahs? in times of transition like this who love God, fear Him and know how to care and look after the prophets of God and shield them from danger.
1 SAM. 8:22
Pray that like Samuel, God will help us raise leaders in the church and nation who will obey God no matter where and at any cost.
Pray that the gates of the nation at this time of transition will be shut against the New Age and other Western or religious interests that will seek to delay/derail the purposes of God for the nation.
Pray to enthrone the Lord Jesus Christ as king, ruler, lawgiver, judge and deliverer over this nation in this new dispensation.
Bring repentance on behalf of all leaders and office holders who in the handing over exercise doctored things, wrote things to hide their failures, claimed what they did not do etc. Apologize on behalf of the nation to God and ask for mercy over such people.

Pray that in this time of transition as it played out in the days of David, that no plot to wipe away the priests of the Lord in any part of this land will prosper.
GEN. 1:6-8
Pray that the heavens will open over Nigeria in this new season. Let every satanic and demonic waters that have closed up the heavens be separated. Pray that Nigeria will experience a fresh atmosphere of peace and sanity.
GEN. 2:1-7
Declare a renewed breath of life, hope and fruitfulness over the nation in this new season.
Break bread and take Personal/Family prayers and give God praise for answered prayers.
